Big Thinkers Ask, "What If?"

Think Big Blog - Big Thinkers Ask What If

Do you engage in a lot of self-talk? Most of us do. It seems like our inner voice never stops talking. We can simultaneously contemplate a dozen possible results of an action we're thinking about taking. Most of the time, what our worrisome inner voice tells us will happen isn't a very pretty picture.

These are just thoughts, nothing more. Your inner thoughts are there to take care of you. They're a part of your ego. The ego part of your psyche is concerned with keeping you alive. So if you're breathing in and out just fine right now and you have a roof over your head, your ego will resist any change.

It figures that good enough is good enough. So why change your actions if, up till now, they've kept you alive and well?

If you're going to achieve big things in your life, you need to know how to shoot down the unconscious suggestion of your ego. Big achievers realize they have to fight their inner voice or else their lives will be limited and watered down.

Start Asking, "What If?"

This is what big thinkers do. They take time to contemplate what might happen if they pursue some big dream. What would the possible outcomes be? What are the pros and cons?

This helps them decide how to take action. It's what leads to big successes and fabulous results. You can achieve those same results by asking yourself the following questions.

  • What if I had unlimited money? What would I do?
  • What if my time wasn't limited? What would I be doing if I had all the time in the world?
  • What if I dared to think big and I failed?
  • What if I dared to think big and I succeeded?
  • What if I decided to think small instead? How would I feel about myself, win or lose?
  • What if I continued to live in my current reality?

These are the types of conscious questions successful people ask themselves. They differ from your unconscious self-talk. The self-talk you engage in is driven by your past experiences and limiting beliefs you inherited or picked up somewhere in your life.

These conscious "what if" questions allow you to control the conversation. They give you a chance to imagine the biggest possible dreams being realized. The answers to these types of questions can help you think and dream bigger so you can achieve more than you ever expected.
